How to Get Motor Insurance in Mumbai West?

Ownership Transfer in Mumbai West RTO

  • For Direct Sale: Both the present vehicle owner and the transferee need to inform the RTO of their intention. The sale and transfer process has to be accompanied by a No Objection Certificate to deem the transaction to be valid.
  • In the Case of Succession: In the event of the registered owner’s death, the successor has the right to operate the vehicle for up to 90 days. They have to inform the RTO office of the change in ownership and apply for new registration during this time.
  • For Auction Sales: In the case of vehicles purchased at State or Central Government auctions, the new owner needs to apply with the Mumbai West RTO office for a change. The application for change in the ownership details must be made within 30 days from the conclusion of the auction sale.

Registration Renewal in Mumbai West RTO

All current vehicle registrations must be renewed at least 60 days before the expiry of the present registration period. Applications for the same may be made on Form 25, indicating possession status, R.C. Book, and P.U.C Certificate. 

Duplicate Registration in Mumbai West RTO

Vehicle owners have the option to seek a duplicate of their original registration by applying on Form 26, supported by a relevant Police Certificate.
