National Insurance Car Insurance

Just like every motorised vehicle, it is mandatory for your car to have an insurance cover. National insurance offers the following options:

  1. Liability-Only Policies
This kind of insurance is mandated under the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988. It covers your legal liabilities if your car accidentally causes damage to a third-party property or physical injury to another person, called a third party person. Your own damages will not be covered.
  2. Package Policy
This is a more comprehensive kind of insurance. Along with the third-party liabilities it also offers cover to your own damages and losses that may be caused due to:
    • Accidental damages
    • Natural disasters such as earthquake and floods
    • Man-made Disasters such as riots and vandalism
    • Theft/ housebreaking
    • While being transported by rail, road, air, inland waterways, lift
  3. Standalone Own-Damage Car Insurance Policy
When you have a liability-only car policy you have the option of increasing the coverage by opting for a standalone policy that would cover the losses you bear when your vehicle undergoes damage.
  4. Bundled Policy
Under this policy all new cars purchased after 1st Sept, 2018, can opt for 1 year of own damage and 3 years of third-party cover.
  5. Add-Ons
When you purchase an own-damage cover you have the option to include add-ons to your car insurance policy. The following add-ons are available for you to choose from:
    • Nil Depreciation
    • Invoice Protect
    • Engine Protect
    • NCB Protect
  6. Personal Accident Cover
PAC is also included in case of accidental death or permanent disability to the owner-driver of the vehicle for death/injury up to INR 15 lakhs. The cover can also be taken for co-passengers.

National Insurance Two-wheeler Insurance

Though for most Indians a two-wheeler is the most affordable and convenient mode of transport, it brings with it a certain element of risk. This makes it all the more important to cover your two-wheeler with the right insurance plan.

  1. Liability Only Policy
As discussed above, this kind of insurance is mandatory under the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988. If you hit something or hurt someone, it is called a third-party liability.
  2. Package Policy
This kind of insurance offers a more comprehensive scope of cover. Along with the third-party liabilities, it also covers your own damages and losses caused due to:
    • Accidental damages
    • Natural disasters such as earthquake and floods
    • Man-made Disasters such as riots and vandalism
    • Theft/ housebreaking
    • While being transported by rail, road, air, inland waterways, lift
  3. Standalone Own-Damage Two-Wheeler Insurance Policy
With a long term liability only cover, you have the option to increase the coverage by opting for a standalone policy. The own-damage cover would cover the cost of repair that you bear if your bike undergoes accidental or other kind of damage.
  4. Add-Ons Options
By including add-ons to your two-wheeler insurance policy, you can greatly enhance the coverage offered by your standard own-damage cover. The following add-ons are available for you to choose from:
    • Nil Depreciation
    • Invoice Protect
    • Engine Protect
    • NCB Protect
  5. Personal Accident Cover
