What is not Covered in a Care Care Plan?

There are certain features or services that are not covered within an insurance plan, these are called exclusions. Let us take a look at the exclusions in the Care Care health insurance plan:

  • Pre-existing diseases or injuries that were diagnosed or acquired within 48 months before the issuance of the first policy
  • Disease contracted during the initial 30 days of the beginning date of the policy, except when arising out of an accident
  • Self-inflicted injury
  • Treatment that is required because of alcohol/ drug use or misuse
  • Expenses on spectacles and contact lenses
  • External hereditary diseases
  • Tests and treatment relating to infertility and in vitro fertilization
  • Treatment arising from or traceable to pregnancy and childbirth, miscarriage, abortion and its consequences

Renew Care Care Health Plan 

The health insurance can be renewed on mutual consent. At the end of the tenure, the policy expires automatically. However, if you want to continue there is a provision of a grace period, which starts from the date of expiry till a period of 30 days.  If you wish to renew the policy, you must do it within the grace period. A claim cannot be made during this break-in period. Care Care health insurance plan comes with the option of lifelong renewability. 

You can get in touch with the company and renew the policy by paying for the next tenure. There is a possibility that the premium at the time of renewal may be a little higher than the previous tenure.

Except on grounds of fraud or non-co-operation by the policyholder, the company generally does not refuse a renewal of the policy. 

Care Care Plan Claim Process

A claim refers to the demand that is made in accordance with the contract of the policy for a payment release of the specified benefits for the person who has been insured. The company promises that its health insurance claim procedure is enduringly simple. And if you follow all the guidelines given by the company carefully, making a claim will not be a problem. 

The company states clearly that if and when an illness is diagnosed or an injury is suffered or any other contingency for which a claim is required, the company should be notified as soon as possible, particularly within 48 hours from the occurrence. The company may be notified through a phone call at the customer care centre or through an email.  

The claim can be asked in two ways:

  1. Cashless Claim
    Care Health Insurance extends the cashless health insurance facility to settle the medical expenses that have been made by the insured. When you go to a network hospital for your treatment, you simply need to present your CHI Health Card along with simple documentation. There are over 11,000 major hospitals all across India that have a tie-up with CHI. 
    Network Hospitals - A hospital or a healthcare provider, that is enlisted either by Care Health Insurance or by a TPA and the company together, to give medical services to an insured member are called network hospitals. It is important as well as prudent to have a clear idea about the network hospitals, especially the one in close proximity to your residence so that in case of an emergency or any other hospitalisation, it is convenient for you and your family members to visit the hospital.
  2. Reimbursement
    If in case of an emergency you could not visit a network hospital and had to go to a non-network hospital or healthcare centre, you must make sure that you inform the insurance company about the same at the earliest. You can call the company and submit the required documents and they will assist you in getting the reimbursement.

A list of documents that are required for making the claim is given below:

  • Valid Photo Identification document of the insured member who has been hospitalised
  • Duly filled and signed Claim Form
  • Copy of policy document/policy number
  • All treatment-related bills and receipts
  • Pathological and Diagnostic Test Reports
  • Doctor’s referral letter that advises hospitalisation
  • Doctor’s prescription of all tests, medicines and consultations
  • Receipt of Ambulance, if used
  • In case of an accidental injury a Medico-Legal Certificate or copy of FIR

  • 1. What is the difference between an individual plan and a family floater?

    An individual health plan covers an individual/single person and the facilities and benefits cannot be shared with the family. On the other hand, a family floater is a single health insurance plan that covers the whole family and the benefits are shared.

  • 2. What is freelook cancellation in Care Care plan?

    If you are not completely satisfied with the policy that you have bought, CHI offers you a period of 15 days from the date of purchase, to return the policy. The amount that you have paid will be refunded once the formalities are over, and the cost of insurance, stamp duty etc. are deducted from your premium.

  • 3. Does the Care Care plan cover maternity expenses?

    When a Care Care plan is bought with a sum insured of INR 50, 60 and 75 lakhs, a maternity cover of INR 1 lakh is provided.

  • 4. What is unlimited recharge in a Care Care health plan?

    If and when you exhaust the health cover, the entire sum insured is reinstated once so that you can use it in the coming years. The sum insured is recharged only once during a policy year. You also have the option of Unlimited Automatic Recharge which will give you the benefit of unlimited recharges.

  • 9. What do you mean by domiciliary hospitalisation?

    Sometimes due to unavailability of a hospital room or the condition of the patient, hospitalisation is not possible and the patient receives treatment at home only. This is called domiciliary hospitalisation. If the treatment exceeds a period of 3 consecutive days, the medical expenses that are incurred during this time will be reimbursed by the company.

  • 10. What is the minimum and maximum age of entry in a Care Care Health Plan?

    The minimum age is 91 days and there is no upper age limit for an entry in the Care Care Health Plan.
