A non-government Indian company, Acko General Insurance Limited is largely in the insurance business. The company started its operation in the year 2016 as India’s first digital insurance company. In the span of a few years the company has not only become the fastest-growing insurer company but has been instrumental in revving up the way India does insurance. By cutting down immensely on the paperwork associated with insurance, the company has sold over 50 million policies.
Car Insurance in India is still considered to be compulsion by many, the reason behind this being the inability to understand the concept. ACKO has tried to make the process of buying, renewing and claiming an insurance policy a matter of a few clicks. The section below will help you in understanding the different aspects of car insurance.
Third-Party Insurance Third-Party Car insurance is considered to be the most basic type of insurance as it is mandated by law under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and it also has the lowest premium. With this kind of insurance, you can cover the injury or damage that your car causes to another person or his property. The damages to your car won’t be covered.
Comprehensive Car Insurance A comprehensive car insurance policy offers much wider protection and covers almost all kinds of damages that your car may undergo. Along with own-damage resulting from collision, theft, man-made or natural disasters, your vehicle would be protected from third-party liabilities.
Standalone Own-Damage Car Insurance This particular kind of Insurance can be bought when you already have third-party insurance. The damages to your vehicle will be covered when your car gets damaged because of collision, theft, man-made or natural disasters.
Personal Accident Cover for Owner/Driver In case of physical harm to the insured person:
Death
Loss of limbs
Permanent disability
Add-Ons You can further enhance the coverage of your own-damage by including add-ons to your policy. The most common add-ons are:
Zero Depreciation This cover helps you cover the loss that you have to bear as the depreciation of car parts is catered for.
Engine Protection With this add-on, you will be covered for the expenses on internal parts of the engine that are damaged due to ingression of water/ leakage of lubricating oil
NCB Protect Even if you make a claim during the policy year, you would be able to keep your No Claim Bonus intact
Invoice Cover Unfortunately, if your car gets stolen or goes for total loss, you will receive a compensation equal to the invoice of the car
Roadside Assistance You will be provided with a cover if you ask for roadside assistance for a dead battery, key loss, electrical malfunction etc
Acko Two-Wheeler Insurance
Buying insurance coverage for your motorised two-wheeler is mandated by the law. Acko offers the following options in two-wheeler insurance, depending on your insurance needs, select the policy that suits you the most.
Third-Party Bike Insurance According to the Government of India, it is mandatory for two wheelers to have a valid third-party two wheeler insurance plan to ply your bike on Indian roads. This coverage is for damages done to third party property, people or third-party vehicles and not to your own bike.
Comprehensive Two Wheeler Insurance A comprehensive two-wheeler insurance plan covers third party damages to your bike along with your own vehicle damages which might result from any accident. So, for your own vehicle, you would get coverage for any theft, disasters along with accidents. This is surely a wider coverage than a standalone third-party only insurance plan.
Standalone Own-Damage Insurance If you have a valid third-party only insurance plan for your two-wheeler, you can opt for a standalone own-damage insurance policy, which covers damages to your own bike.
Personal Accident Cover Each person driving a bike or a two wheeler needs to have a mandatory personal accident coverage. So, you can choose to have a standalone personal accident coverage or include it in your vehicle insurance policy.
Add-Ons If you wish to further enhance the cover of your two-wheeler, you can do that by opting for an add-on. By paying a little extra, you would be able to increase the scope of your insurance manyfold. The most common add-ons are:
Zero Depreciation Get a cover against the loss of claim amount due to depreciation
NCB Protect A small/ minor claim would not let your hard-earned bonus go down the drain
