Maruti Suzuki SX4 S-cross Car Insurance FAQs

  • 1. This is my 1st car insurance ever. Yesterday, my car received a small dent in the backside, and the expense will be INR 2500 for repairing it. Should I claim insurance?

As per the insurance policy, you can claim insurance money for this repair job, but we will suggest, don’t do it. The reason is that, if you make a small claim of INR 2500, you will lose the benefits of No Claim Bonus, and this means you will need to pay the full amount for insurance renewal next tenure.

  • 2. How to get the No Claim Bonus?

If you don’t make any insurance claim during the whole tenure of the insurance policy, then you will receive a No Claim Bonus, which can give you a discount of upto 50% on your next insurance renewal for not raising a claim of up to 5 consecutive years.

  • 3. For how long does a typical car insurance policy last?

Normally, Car insurance policies are of 12-month tenure, from the day of start. But since 2018, multi-year car insurance policies have also come up which last up to 2-3 years.

  • 4. I wish to buy another car, and sell off my current car. What will happen to my car insurance, which I just renewed?

You can definitely transfer your existing car insurance to your new car. But for that, you will need to pay the difference in the amount. For example, if your new car is more expensive than your old car, then you will need to pay the difference of the insurance premium, prorated as per the time remaining.

  • 5. What if I sell my current car to another person. Can I transfer the insurance to the new owner?

Yes, you can easily transfer your car insurance to the new owner of the car. However, this transfer of car insurance should happen within 14 days of the transfer of the registration certificate.
