After years of experimenting with various designs and innovations, Tata finally launched Altroz in January 2020, which can be described as one of their finest creations ever. A subcompact 5-door hatchback, Altroz can be classified as a SuperMini, as per European standards of vehicle sizes. The first glimpse of Tata Altroz appeared during the 89th Geneva International Motor Show in 2019, and very soon, an electric version of Altroz will be launched by 2021.
With Altroz, Tata Motors have extensively focussed on three aspects: build-quality, safety and powerful performance, which has always been Tata Motor’s USP. When it comes to safety, then Altroz has set a new benchmark by becoming the 1st 100% Made in India hatchback car to have a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP.
Powered by Tata’s own Revotron engine series (which was first introduced in Zest and Bolt), the Petrol variant of Altroz has an engine capacity of 1199cc and 1497cc for diesel variant which has a Revotorq engine. Both the petrol and diesel engines are now available with turbocharged mode and multi-point fuel injection technology.
While the normal 1.2L Revotron petrol engine gives max power of 86PS @ 6000RPM and max torque of 13Nm @ 3300 RPM, the 1.2L I-Turbo petrol engine has max power of 110PS @ 5500RPM and max torque of 140Nm@1500-5500RPM. Whereas, 1.5L Turbocharged Revotorq Diesel engine has max power of 90PS@4000RPM and max torque of 200Nm@1250-3000RPM.

You can renew your Tata Altroz car insurance policy in 5 easy and quick steps.

Aggressively priced at INR 5.69 lakhs for petrol base variant, and INR 6.99 lakhs for diesel base variant (Ex-showroom, New Delhi), Tata Altroz has been appreciated for its solid build quality, incredible safety features and futuristic technology which gives a whole new dimension to this subcompact hatchback. The Made in India engines (both petrol and diesel) will provide a superb driving experience, and the long rides on the highways can be both punchy and fuel-efficient.
The vast difference in price points of petrol and diesel variants is a sore point, which Tata Motors failed to gauge. Besides, the 1.2 L petrol engine can feel underpowered in some terrains like hills and especially felt while overtaking on the highway. The absence of automatic variants is also surprising.
No, it’s not mandatory for you to transfer the insurance policy, but it’s mandatory to have at least 3rd party insurance. In case you meet with an accident, there will be no coverage for 3rd party or 1st party, if you don’t have the insurance in your name.
The new registration papers are the most important document. Always remember that while claiming insurance money, the name and address on the car registration paper should be the same as that on the insurance policy documents.
No Claim Bonus or NCB is a reward from insurance companies to safe drivers, for not claiming any insurance money during a tenure. From 20% to 50% NCB can be availed while renewing the next insurance tenure. To increase your NCB, the only option is to not claim insurance for a longer duration.
Yes, definitely. If you are canceling insurance from company A, ask for an NCB certificate, which can be shown to the new insurance company B, and the NCB can be transferred.
Always check if the insurance provider is affiliated with IRDAI or not. If yes, then it doesn’t matter how you buy the insurance: both online and offline modes are acceptable. However, you will get better deals and discounts online, if you compare multiple insurance companies.
