ICICI Lombard is amongst the top insurance companies in India, with a claim settlement ratio of almost 88% and accredited as iAAA by ICRA. The Mumbai-headquartered private insurer registered a claim settlement ratio of 87.99% in 2019-20. Its two-wheeler insurance claim settlement procedure is extremely simple and can be done online, provided you submit your documents and follow the essentials properly. Even more important is a timely intimation of the ICICI Lombard bike insurance claim. If you don't meet the claim intimation norms, don't be surprised if ICICI Lombard rejects your bike insurance claim, leaving you in despair.

We understand - physical suffering combined with financial strain can be too much for one to deal with. So, we have prepared a guide to filing an ICICI Lombard bike insurance claim. Please read this and file your claim accordingly for a hassle-free experience.

Documents Required for ICICI Lombard Two-wheeler Insurance Claim Settlement

These could be the reasons for filing a two-wheeler insurance claim - accident, theft, man-made or natural calamity-induced damages. However, the documents required for filing and processing the claim settlement with ICICI Lombard bike insurance may vary slightly under these situations.

1. In case of an accident, the insured has to produce the following documents during the claim settlement:

  • Copy of the insurance policy.
  • Copy/original registration certificate (RC).
  • Copy/original driving licence.
  • Copy of First Information Report (FIR).
  • Original tax receipts.
  • Estimates of the vehicle repair cost.
  • Payment receipts and bills of the repairs made.
  • Claim discharge voucher.

2. In case of theft, the documents required are:

  • Original policy documents.
  • Original registration certificate (RC).
  • Tax payment receipts.
  • Theft declaration from the Regional Transport Office (RTO).
  • All policy details.
  • Warranty card, duplicate keys and other accessories.
  • First Information Report (FIR).
  • Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC).
  • Final police report.
  • Claim discharge voucher.
  • Letter of subrogation.
  • Forms 28, 29, 30 and 35 duly signed by the policyholder.
  • Claim form duly filled and signed.

Now, there are two ways of making a claim settlement for your bike insurance with ICICI Lombard -

  • Cashless bike insurance claim
  • Reimbursement bike insurance claim

Again, there are separate steps to follow in the above cases.

Procedure for Cashless Bike Insurance Claim with ICICI Lombard

For a seamless bike insurance claim (be it online or offline) with ICICI Lombard, you need to follow these steps:

Step-1

Contacting your insurer and registering the claim is the first step in your bike insurance claim settlement process. You need to provide the following details to the company:

  • The location where the accident took place.
  • Date and time of the accident.
  • Any witness available.
  • Disclosure about the pillion rider (if any).

You can contact ICICI Lombard on its toll-free number or email. The details of this would be there on your policy document.

Step-2

Once the claim has been registered, your insurer would send a surveyor to the accident spot to survey the entire incident and how much damage has been caused to the vehicle because of the accident. Once the inspection completes, you can take your bike to the ICICI Lombard network garage for repairs. You can request the insurer if you require towing services for the same.

Step-3

ICICI Lombard would cover the repair charges for your bike. You can take your bike home after paying the essential voluntary deductibles.

Procedure for ICICI Lombard Reimbursement Bike Insurance Claim

If you wish to take your bike to a garage other than the one authorised for ICICI Lombard customers, the insurer will then reimburse you for the repair charges spent by you on the bike. So, the point here is - you need to spend on bike repairs first. Post the repair, you can raise a reimbursement claim with your insurer. To do so, you need to follow the following steps:

Step-1

Contact your insurer and register the claim; it is the first step towards your bike insurance claim settlement process. You need to provide the following details to the company:

  • The location where the accident took place.
  • Date and time of the accident.
  • Details of witnesses.
  • Did the rider have a pillion or not?

You can contact the insurer by dialing its toll-free number or by writing an email to it. You can check these contact details in your ICICI Lombard bike insurance policy document.

Step-2

Once the claim has been registered, your insurer would send a surveyor to the accident spot to survey the entire incident and how much damage the vehicle has suffered because of the accident. Once the inspection has been done, you can take the bike for repairs. However, you need to submit all the required documents to the surveyor at this stage.

Step-3

Once the survey concludes, you can take the bike to the garage of your choice and get the repairs done. Afterward, start the reimbursement process with ICICI Lombard. Submit the repair bills, receipts, and other documents about your two-wheeler insurance claim to the company. The insurer would consider all deductions and depreciation value and check the bill's details. After doing so, the company would finally disburse the payment.

Final Take

Two-wheeler insurance online and offline claims may get rejected due to negligence, misinterpretation of facts, registration of a fraud claim, delay in intimation about the mishap to the insurer, or if the vehicle was being driven without a licence or under the influence of alcohol/drugs. So, be extremely cautious and vigilant about these to prevent ICICI from denying your bike insurance claims.
