Glanza is one unique offering from Toyota, which is the world’s 2nd biggest automobile company only behind Volkswagen in terms of sales. Unique because Toyota collaborated with Suzuki for their subcompact hatchback Baleno, and re-introduced it in the form of Glanza in the Indian market, where Baleno is already being sold under the Maruti Suzuki brand.
But despite these common factors, Toyota Glanza has been able to carve a unique niche for itself, and attracted new buyers who wanted to side with the brand Toyota, and wished to have a premium hatchback, which is not very costly, and powerful at the same time.
With a starting price of INR 7.01 lakhs (Ex-Showroom, New Delhi), Toyota Glanza has been positioned for families and youngsters, who are looking for a rock-solid urban mobility solution with high mileage, and low maintenance cost.
Glanza is only available in a petrol variant, supporting both MT and CVT transmissions. Interestingly, when Baleno was launched, it had a diesel variant which has now been discontinued. But Glanza was never available in the diesel variant.
Two major highlights of Glanza are the new K-Series petrol engine which promises mileage up to 23 kmpl, and the new ‘Heartect platform’, which makes sure that the passengers get the minimum shock during a collision with superior crash resiliency.

If you have driven a Suzuki Baleno, then quite frankly, you won’t find much difference while driving Toyota Glanza, since almost every aspect is the same in both cars. Glanza is easy and fun to drive, provides spacious interiors, the engine is refined and best suited for urban mobility, and the mileage is top-notch, best in the segment.
At the same time, driving this car at high speed on the highways can be a bit unsettling, and the build quality is average, to say the least. Technology-wise, Glanza doesn’t fail and provides all the advanced amenities which are present in the other car models in this segment.
Overall, a decent subcompact car for families, who wish to trust and experience the Toyota brand, under INR 10 lakh.
Once your car insurance lapses, your car will cease to be covered under insurance and this means you cannot claim any insurance money in case of an accident or theft. Besides, you will also lose the No Claim Bonus for that tenure. Plus, you will also have to pay a hefty fine for not having valid car insurance.
Generally, 90 days of the grace period is provided to the insurance holder, once the insurance has expired. After this, the insurance will be canceled/lapsed, and it will permanently expire.
If you do not claim any insurance during your policy period, then you will be automatically eligible for No Claim Bonus. Under this, you can get a maximum upto 50% discount in the next insurance renewal for not raising a claim upto 5 consecutive years.
Yes, your new Toyota car should have a car insurance, as per Indian laws. The Motor Vehicles Act states that every vehicle running on the road must have at least 3rd party insurance.
In 3rd party insurance, any damage or liability happening to the 3rd party (external entity) will be covered by insurance, but your own car and yourself won’t be covered. In comprehensive car insurance(1st party insurance), both the 3rd party along with you & your car will be covered.
Yes, definitely. You will need to submit the transfer form, along with a copy of the new registration certificate, NoC, inspection report, and other details. Note here, that transfer of insurance is only possible when the registration of the car is transferred to the new owners. A fee is also applicable for the transfer.
Yes, you can. If you are not transferring the existing insurance to the new owner, then it’s better to cancel.
