Hero MotoCorp Splendor iSmart BS6 Insurance FAQs

  • 1. When I purchased my new Hero bike, I was offered a new insurance policy. The problem here is that I have also bought one for the same, can I cancel the two-wheeler policy during the tenor?

Yes, you can cancel two-wheeler insurance during the policy term. However, you need to submit the supporting documents to prove the presence of another two-wheeler insurance policy, due to which, the RTO will cancel your two-wheeler’s registration.

  • 2. My Hero Splendor’s insurance policy had expired a while ago and I came across it a few days ago. My question is, what will happen, now that my insurance policy has expired?

In case you are confused about what to do with your expired insurance policy, here are a few key pointers that will help you out with the same:

    • It is mandatory that you opt for the registration of your insurance for a bike in India and keep a check on its expiration.
    • In case your policy expires and you fail to renew it within 90 days, you lose on your No Claim Bonus.
    • If not renewed on time, your bike will go through a new inspection, which may be chargeable.
  • 3. I have recently had a major accident with my bike and now I look for insurance on the same. However, my question is, what is the difference between a cashless and reimbursement insurance claim?

As the name suggests, cashless claim is an insurance claim where you don’t need to pay money to the garage for the repairs. Here, your insurer bears all the expenses directly.

In case of a reimbursement insurance policy, you are liable to bear the expenses on your own. Once done, you will receive the reimbursement when you submit the bills/documents to the insurer.

  • 4. Is it a smart move to opt for insurance claims in terms of minor accidents?

No, it is not a smart move for you to opt for an insurance claim for minor accidents. The reason behind the same is that you qualify for “No Claim Bonus” when you don’t claim your accidents or any such events over the years. The bonus reduces the premium price of your two-wheeler insurance.
