Fans of Mahindra & Mahindra had always demanded a compact MUV (Multipurpose Vehicle), which could fit in between the largeness of Bolero and Scorpio, and the sophistication of XUV 300 and 500 series. And with the launch of Marazzo in 2018, Mahindra finally offered the compact SUV (or minivan), which was long-awaited.
Marazzo means shark in a dialect of Spanish, and the vehicle does give a performance like that of a shark: Lightweight, fast, flexible, powerful, and smart. As per NCAP tests, Mahindra Marazzo is right now India’s safest MPV with a 4-star rating.
The design and functionality of Mahindra Marazzo is a collective effort, as a result of a collaboration between Mahindra's Design Studio, Italian car design company Pininfarina, along with Mahindra Research Valley and Mahindra’s Automotive division based in Michigan.
After the recent BS6 upgrade, Mahindra Marazzo is available as either a 7-seater or an 8-seater, with the only option of a diesel engine, with manual transmission. And quite a powerful engine it is: With a capacity of 1497cc, it gives a maximum power of 90.2 kW @ 3500 RPM, and max torque of 300Nm @1750-2500 RPM.
While the base variant is priced at INR 11.64 Lakh, the top variant is INR 13.71 Lakh (Ex-Showroom, New Delhi)
Third-Party Losses: In the unfortunate event of third-party loss, your policy will take care of the legal and financial liabilities.
Damages Due to Accidents: If your car is damaged due to an accident, nothing to worry about as your car insurance policy got you covered.
Car Thefts: In case your car is stolen, your Mahindra car insurance policy will look after the same.
Damages Caused in Fire: If your car catches fire, your car policy will pay for the damages.
Damages Due to Natural/Man-made Disaster: When flood, hurricane, hail storm, tornado, riots, etc attack your car, your insurance policy comes in handy.
Personal Accident: In case you meet with an accident that leads to injuries or unfortunately death, your policy will offer compensation of up to INR 15 lakh.
Note: You will have to buy PA Cover separately.
Drunken Driving: No car insurance company will accept your claim if you were drunk or under an intoxicant when the accident happened.
Unauthorised Driving: Your claim will be rejected if the driver is without a valid Driver’s License.
Deliberate Accident: If the accident has been caused purposely, the claim will be rejected.
Consequential Damages: Consequential damages that are caused after the accident are not covered under insurance.
Negligence: An accident occurs because of your own negligence, you won’t be able to claim the damages.
Depreciation: Damages that are caused because of normal wear and tear, mechanical or electric failure due to travelling.
Expired policy: If the policy has lapsed, your damages will not be covered.
Excluded Add-Ons: You will not be able to claim the benefits that you do not have in your plan.

Finally, a subcompact MPV from the Mahindra camp, which can give a tough fight to the likes of Toyota Innova Crysta and Suzuki Ertiga in terms of performance and looks, along with price point. A solid build, imposing road presence, and remarkably smooth diesel engine with a 6-speed gearbox place Mahindra Marazzo among the top leagues in the MPV segment.
However, the way some features of Marazzo overlap with Mahindra’s own XUV 500 confuses some hardcore fans of Mahindra, and they are forced to choose between these two. This could have been avoided for better brand loyalty. The 3rd row, when unfolded, can make the boot space small, and the engine bay too is not optimally designed and is rather cramped.
But overall, a near-perfect compact MPV from Mahindra will steal the thunder on the road.
As described in your case, 3rd party insurance will be apt for you. In 3rd party insurance, the damage to property and life of the 3rd party involved in an accident is covered. However, your car and passengers in your car won’t be covered.
In the case of any injury or death of the 3rd party, or permanent/partial disability, there is no limit on the sum insured for the 3rd party. However, in case of property damage, then a sum insured of INR 7.5 lakh is the maximum which the insurance provider can offer.
Since insurance providers can only give INR 7.5 lakh to the 3rd party property damage, the rest of the amount will be paid by the 1st party, in case the court rules so.
Comprehensive Insurance, also called 1st Party Insurance in some regions, is suggested for complete protection of your car, all passengers in your car, and any liability arising from 3rd party damage/injury are also covered under the same.
As per Motor Vehicles Act, Govt of India has mandated that every vehicle running on the road should have atleast 3rd party insurance.
NCB stands for No Claim Bonus. If you haven’t availed any claim during the tenure of your insurance policy, then you can get No Claim Bonus of upto 50%, while paying the next premium.
