Functions of Malathalli Transport Department

How To Get Vehicle Registration in Malathalli?

Vehicle Registration Type in Malathalli RTO

The Jnanabharathi RTO offers two different categories of car registration:

  • Temporary Registration
  • Permanent Registration

Temporary registration is available for a limited time and can be applied for using Form 20 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. In addition, registration holders can request an extension of temporary registration, specifying up to what time it has to be renewed. Applicants can complete the permanent registration application process within seven days from the automotive delivery date. 

Ownership Transfer in Malathalli RTO

Under Jnanabharathi RTO, one can apply for transfer of ownership under three scenarios.

  • Standard Transfer: In the case of regular transfer, the transferor has to report the change in ownership to the Jnanabharathi RTO. Both the transferor and the transferee live or work in the same city.
  • Death Of Vehicle Owner: In case of vehicle owner’s death,  the successor can use the vehicle for three months as the asset has already been transferred to them after informing the authorities. However, the successor has to get a vehicle assigned to their name within three months. 
  • Vehicle Bought at Public Auction: If the vehicle is bought at a Central or State Government public auction, the owner will have to register the car under name within 30 days of possession. 

Renewal of Registration in Malathalli RTO

To renew the registration certificate at Jnanabharathi RTO, the application shall be Form 25. The application must be 60 days before the date of expiry. The fee for registration renewal is to be paid to the registration authority at Jnanabharathi RTO as per Rule 81 of the central vehicle act. Owners should have the following documents for renewal.

  • Pollution Under Control Certificate
  • RC Book
  • Fitness Certificate
  • Certificate of Registration
  • Proof for payment of up-to-date road tax paid
  • Insurance certificate

Duplicate RC in Malathalli RTO

For issuance of a duplicate certificate of registration at Jnanabharathi RTO, the application shall be made in Form 26. The fee should be paid as per rule 81 of the Central Vehicle Act, 1989 to the registration authority at Jnanabharathi RTO. Owners should have the following documents.
