The Transport Department of Chhattisgarh was established under section 213 of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988, the function of CG RTO is to regulate vehicle acts and provisions in the state of Chhattisgarh. The duty of licence issuing, setting up of databases etc. is under the Chhattisgarh RTO office (Regional Transport Office). Once the vehicle is registered through this office then only a registration certificate is issued.

Every year the number of vehicle registrations passes the preceding year. This is almost the case of every other Indian state. CG RTO makes sure that rules are being followed properly as well as all the vehicles are registered.

How does RTO Impact Your Vehicle Insurance Premium in Chhattisgarh (CG)?

The deciding factor of the premium that you pay for your car insurance is the Chhattisgarh RTO. The place at which the RTO is located, plays a major role in determining the increased or decreased premium. The reason is that certain cities can be more subject to risk than others due to more risk of vehicle theft.

If the area is having a high chance of man-made disasters, the premium may increase.

Temporary Registration

Whenever a new vehicle is bought, the dealer has to register it for a limited period of time, till the permanent number arrives from the Chhattisgarh RTO.

Permanent Registration

This number is appointed by the CG RTO as it is a bounded function of the department. For this process to start you need to fill a form after which the registration number is allotted.

Ownership Transfer

It is the process in which the name of the previous owner is replaced by the new owner by filling Form 30. If you go for a financed vehicle then you need to submit a NOC with Form 35 before the name transferring process takes place.

Duplicate Registration

If the certificate of registration is lost then an application should be presented to the Motor Vehicle Inspector or the Regional Transport Officer of Chhattisgarh along with the FIR of the nearest police station.

Renewal of Registration
Before 60 days of the expiration of the RC, these mentioned documents need to be submitted. The documents are

  1. Form 25
  2. PUC of the vehicle.
  3. The RC and fitness certificate of the vehicle.
  4. Road tax payment receipt.
  5. Valid car insurance policy.
  6. Form 60 and 61 or the PAN card attached, of the ownerTransfer of RC in case of death
In case a new nominee is added, then form 30 and 31 along with the KYC documents of the new owner will satisfy the transfer requirements. The ID proof along with the address proof needs to be submitted for the KYC documents. The legal successor can also claim for the vehicle along with the required documents and certificates if there is no nominee.

Ownership Transfer to Another State
For changing the vehicle's registration to any other state, a NOC and Form 29 attached with other required documents from the current state of the vehicle needs to be submitted.
