Under MH RTO rules, there are certain provisions under which the vehicle registration can be transferred.
In case the vehicle is purchased by another party: If you sell your vehicle to the third party then the vehicle registration must be transferred from the old party to the new party. This procedure must be done jointly by the new buyer and the original buyer. Form 29 must be filled, and if the vehicle transfer takes place from one state to another, the new owner has to provide Form 30.
In case if the vehicle owner dies within the validity period of the vehicle registration: After the death of the vehicle owner, the person who inherits the vehicle must transfer the registration certificate from the name of the deceased to their own. This procedure must be completed within the 90 days of the death of the original owner. Applicants can initiate the process by informing the RTO about the death of the person and the new owner is required to duly submit Form 31 to the Vashi RTO office.
Vehicle purchased in the auction: If you purchase the vehicle from the local; or Central Government auction then you must transfer the title of the registration from the previous owner to your name. This procedure can be commenced after submitting Form 32.
A valid RC is mandatory to drive a vehicle in Vashi without any penalty. Hence, you will be required to renew your RC on the expiry. The RC is valid for 15 years for private vehicles and 3 years for commercial vehicles. To renew a registration certificate in Vashi, you will need to provide these documents:
