The Jaipur RTO office drives the following functions within the territory of its jurisdiction:
The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, mandates that all vehicles carry either comprehensive or third-party insurance coverage as a part of their roadworthiness. The owner/operator, therefore, has the freedom to choose from among multiple motor insurance providers by comparing the different premium rates and insurance policy features. Once they have zeroed in on a preferred provider of choice, they need to finalize the coverage to meet the statutory provisions as mandated by the relevant sections of the law.
Four-wheeler owners in Jaipur can apply for car insurance online or offline. They need to compare the various car insurance plans offered by different vehicle insurers, focusing on the premium rates and the coverage plan features. Once the preferred insurer is identified, here is a list of steps that they need to follow to acquire insurance for their four-wheelers:
It is mandatory to carry the insurance details as a part of the vehicle’s roadworthiness paperwork at all times. Owners/operators today have the option to carry these in either physical or digital form for meeting any mandatory requirements.
The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, makes it mandatory for two-wheeler owners to carry sufficient third-party insurance for their vehicles at all times. They have the freedom to opt for this in either online or offline mode after comparing the various plans available to them.
It must be noted here that the premium payable for taking two-wheeler insurance will be affected by the vehicle's age, make, and model. Therefore, owners need to follow the steps enumerated in the previous section to complete the process within the stipulated period.

The classification of the RTO area plays a significant role in how insurance companies arrive at the premium payable for vehicle insurance. Across India, RTO offices have been graded based on the risk involved. For example, Metro RTOs carry a higher risk (and higher premium) due to the potentially greater incidence of accidents, theft, and vandalism. However, as a Tier 2 city, Jaipur RTO, with its consequently smaller population and minimal traffic, qualifies for a lower premium than its Metro/Tier 1 counterparts.
Automobile owners living within the Jaipur RTO jurisdiction can either opt for temporary or permanent registration, depending upon the stage of ownership of their vehicle.
By law, new vehicle owners must apply for a seven-day temporary registration, with the proviso that they also submit their application for permanent registration within this period. They may, however, also choose to apply for an extension in case of any unforeseen delays in the vehicle ownership status.
The applications for vehicle registration at the Jaipur RTO office need to be made on Form 20 and submitted with all relevant documents for swift processing.
Vehicle ownership transfers under the Jaipur RTO office fall under three categories.
First, direct sale, where both the registered owner and the transferee must inform the RTO of their intention. The sale process must be accompanied by a No Objection Certificate from the RTO for the transaction to be considered legal.
Second, in the case of the death of a registered owner, their successor(s) may continue to operate the vehicle for up to three months. Within this time, however, they need to inform the RTO office of the change in ownership and apply for new registration in their name.
And finally, for vehicles purchased at Central or State Government auctions. Here, the new owner must apply with the respective RTO for a change in the registration details within 30 days from the conclusion of the auction.
As mandated in the Motor Vehicles Act, all vehicle owners must apply for a registration renewal on Form 25 at least 60days before the current registration expires.
A duplicate of the original registration is available when the owner applies on Form 26, supported by a Police certificate.
All registration fees will have to be paid where the owner is seeking to register their vehicle with the Jaipur RTO, irrespective of whether it is for new or renewal of existing registrations.
