How does RTO Impact Your Vehicle Insurance Premium in Bangalore?

Insurance premiums are affected by the Bangalore RTO, where your automobile or two-wheeler was registered. Insurance companies divide the country into "Zones" based on the level of risk connected with a certain vehicle. There is a higher premium for vehicles registered in metropolitan areas because of the increased risk of accidents, thefts, and vandalism.

Registering A Vehicle in Bangalore

A new or transferred vehicle must be registered with the Bangalore RTO office under the Motor Vehicles Act 1988.

Vehicle Registration Type in Bangalore RTO

  • Temporary Vehicle Registration: The dealer issues a one-month valid temporary registration to the buyer as soon as the car is purchased.
  • Permanent Vehicle Registration: As soon as your temporary registration expires, you should apply for a permanent one.

Ownership Transfer in Bangalore RTO

Under Bangalore RTO, there are three ways to apply for a transfer of ownership:

  • There is a standard procedure for reporting a change in ownership to a Bangalore RTO, which is where both parties live or work if the transfer is a normal one.
  • It is permitted to operate a car for three months after the death of its owner if the heirs have informed the authorities of the death and the vehicle has been transferred to them. 
  • A vehicle purchased at a public auction on behalf of the state or central government must be registered within 30 days of being taken possession of.

Renewal Of Registration in Bangalore RTO

Your vehicle's RC should be checked before it expires. All vehicles must be registered for at least 15 years. When a vehicle passes the 15-year mark, the owner must contact the RTO office nearest to them to renew the RC. The following documents would be required for the same:

  • Vehicle Insurance certificate
  • R.C. Book
  • Pollution Under Control certificate

Duplicate R.C. In Bangalore RTO

Duplicate RC applications must be made to Bangalore RTO if an RTO-registered vehicle's RC card or RC book is lost or destroyed. The RTO in Bangalore, where the car is registered, must receive an application for a duplicate RC. The following documents are necessary for a duplicate RC:

  • Form 26 
  • A copy of a current insurance policy
  • A copy of the PUC Certificate
  • 3 passport-sized photos
