RTO, Regional Transport Office, performs the task of regulating road traffic rules and regulations. Like every other state of India, Telangana RTO is also responsible for taking up traffic-related tasks like issuing a driver’s license, registration of motor vehicles, issuing registration certificates to owners of motor vehicles, and many more.
With 36 RTOs across all the districts of the Telangana state, the departments perform their duties responsibly. All the new motor vehicles in the state are registered by TS RTO and only permitted vehicles are eligible to be taken out on the roads. The Telangana RTO Office takes care of all the government guidelines mentioned under Section 213 of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988.

There are different RTO codes for different States and Union Territories in India for easy identification of the RTO location based on the vehicle's number plate. The different RTO codes for States and Union Territories in India are as follows:
RTO TS plays a vital role in deciding an increase in the premium amount of your insurance policy. Primarily the location is the key factor as some areas might prove to be more likely to attract threats and risks to the vehicles than other areas.
If you fall under a location that meets any of these parameters, you may have to settle for a higher premium. Apart from these, if you live in Zone A cities like Mumbai, Delhi Kolkata, etc., your premium rate is likely to be higher than Zone A cities.
The vehicle dealer helps you register the brand new vehicle for a specific number of days. The owner gets the permanent registration number from the Telangana RTO within the stipulated time period.
Telangana RTO provides the vehicle owner with a form that the owner has to fill and submit after which the department issues him the permanent registration number.
There is a way to transfer the ownership of a vehicle to someone else. For this, one has to fill form 30. An NOC and Form 35 is also required in case the vehicle is purchased through finance.
In case the RC of a vehicle is lost, an FIR has to be filed in the nearby police station. A copy of the FIR along with an application must be submitted to either RTO or Motor Vehicle Inspector for issuing duplicate registration.
Prior to 60 days of the expiry of an RC certificate, the owner must submit the required documents at the TS RTO. The documents include Form 25, the PAN card copy of the owner or Forms 60 and 61, car insurance policy, fitness and registration certificate and the vehicle's PUC.
If the owner of the vehicle dies, transferring of RC can be done. For this, the new nominee has to submit Forms 30 and 31 along with the KYC documents of the new nominee. The death certificate of the owner and the ID and address proof must also be submitted. If there is no nominee, the legal successor has the right to claim for the transferring of RC by filling the application form.
The Form 29, NOC, and other required documents collected from the present state must be submitted at the Telangana RTO office in case of a change of state registration number from any other state to Telangana.
