When you buy a vehicle in India, it is absolutely crucial to register it in the Regional Transport Office (RTO) to get a registration certificate. Driving a car or riding a two-wheeler without a valid RC is against the law and a punishable offence. So if you live in Noida city, registering your vehicle at Noida RTO is mandatory under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. Talking about UP-16 RTO, it performs many vital functions and duties on a daily basis.

Conducting driving tests for LL & DL, issuing new DL & RC, transferring vehicle ownership, issuing fitness certificate & special permit, and collecting road tax are some of the main functions of the Noida RTO. Every city has its own RTO office, which maintains the database of all the vehicles and drivers. So if you want to find an RTO office in your nearby location, you can easily do so below.

RTO Codes for Different States and Union Territories of India

There are different RTO codes for different States and Union Territories in India for easy identification of the RTO location based on the vehicle's number plate. The different RTO codes for States and Union Territories in India are as follows:

How to Get Motor Insurance in Noida?

According to the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, all vehicles with an engine on Indian roads need to carry sufficient insurance coverage as a part of their roadworthiness mandate. Vehicle owners and operators must therefore seek to acquire adequate insurance coverage to legally operate their vehicles on the roads.

Depending on their risk profile, they can choose between comprehensive and third-party coverage. In the territory within the jurisdiction of the Noida RTO office, coverage, whether complete or third-party, can be purchased in either an offline or online form.

How to Get Car Insurance in Noida?

Four-wheeler owners residing within the jurisdiction of the Noida RTO might choose to purchase the required insurance coverage either online or offline. They can choose a policy from a variety of options offered by a variety of automobile insurers. This involves comparing the different packages in terms of premium, discounts, and other features. When they have zeroed in on a preferred insurance carrier, the vehicle owners need to:

  1. Visit the vehicle insurer’s office (for offline mode) within business hours or log on to the insurance company’s web portal (for online).
  2. Fill up the correct application form, indicating the insurance plan opted for.
  3. Submit all necessary documents as indicated, for a failure may result in a rejection of the application.
  4. Pay the indicated premium amount in person or through online mode.
  5. Collect the payment receipt and insurance coverage details, either in person or from the email confirmation from the insurer.

Vehicle insurance particulars need to be carried as a part of the roadworthiness documentation. In place of carrying the necessary data in physical form, vehicle owners now have the option of storing and accessing these from their DigiLocker profile.

How to Get Two Wheeler Insurance in Noida?

In India, all two-wheelers must always carry third-party insurance coverage. This is required by the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988's applicable sections.

Two-wheeler owners in Noida RTO have the option of purchasing the essential coverage online or in person. The applicable insurance rate is determined by the vehicle's age, make, and model.

The above-discussed steps are essential to be followed to ensure that their vehicles are compliant with the mandatory insurance requirements.

Kindly note that insurance coverage documentation is a key part of the two-wheeler’s roadworthiness. Owners must always carry these in either physical form or their DigiLocker app.

How does RTO Impact your Vehicle Insurance Premium in Noida?

In India, the different RTO offices have been graded to calculate applicable insurance premiums. This involves an assessment of the risk of accidents, theft, or vandalism within the jurisdiction. As a rule, the metro city RTOs carry a higher premium cost in comparison to that of their competitors, Tier 2 and 3, which have a reduced rate of premium.

What are the Required Steps for Getting Vehicle Registration in Noida?

Both two and four-wheeler owners, whether new or old, are required to register their engine-driven vehicles under the terms of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. They can register for a temporary or permanent licence with the Noida RTO office.

New car owners are required to apply for a seven-day temporary registration if they intend to apply for permanent registration within that time frame. They may also choose to ask for an extension if the transfer of ownership is delayed due to unforeseen circumstances.

Government laws require that registration applications be submitted in Form 20 and accompanied by the required papers. When a vehicle owner wants to register their car with the Noida RTO office, they must pay registration costs (as per the latest government laws).

Ownership Transfer Under Noida RTO

Vehicle ownership transfers under the Noida RTO office can be classified into three types:

  • Direct Sale: Both the present vehicle owner and the intended transferee must notify the RTO of their intent to shift ownership. For the transaction to be legitimate, the sale and transfer process would need to be supported by a No Objection Certificate.
  • Succession: In the event of the registered owner’s death, their successors have the right to operate the vehicle for a period of up to three months without changing documentation. During this time, they will need to notify the Noida RTO office of the change in ownership and submit an application for a new registration in their name.
  • Vehicle Auction Sale: Vehicles purchased at State or Central Government auctions require the new owner to file a change of ownership application with the Noida RTO office within 30 days of the auction sale's conclusion.

Renewal of Registration

With at least 60 days until the current registration period expires, all active vehicle registrations must be renewed. Form 25 can be used to apply for the same, indicating possession, R.C. Book, and P.U.C Certificate.

Registration Errors

Vehicle owners can also apply for a duplicate of their original registration by filling out Form 26 and attaching a police certificate.
